- Shuffle the 5 Trading House tiles face-down and place them next to the Trader card

- Sort out one Indigo Plant card per player — each player places it face-up in front of them as their first building
- Shuffle the remaining cards and deal 4 to each player (kept secret)
- Place the rest face-down as the card supply; leave space beside it for a discard pile
