CombatCard Reference · In 1 guide
Combat triggers when a dinosaur moves into a hex occupied by an opponent's dinosaur. Movement into that hex is mandatory — you cannot pass through without fighting.
How to resolve
1. Compare the attacker's Horn level to the defender's Horn level. 2. Calculate the difference (attacker minus defender). 3. Roll a d6 and check the table below.
| Horn difference | Attacker wins on d6 |
|---|---|
| Attacker +2 or more | 1 – 5 |
| Attacker +1 | 1 – 4 |
| Equal (0) | 1 – 2 |
| Defender +1 | 1 only |
| Defender +2 or more | Cannot attack |
Result
- Attacker wins: defender's dinosaur is removed from the board.
- Defender wins: attacker's dinosaur is removed from the board.
Notes
- Only one dinosaur fights per hex — each movement action resolves one combat.
- A dinosaur killed in combat does not count toward survival VPs in Phase 5 of that same round.
- You can avoid combat entirely by not moving into occupied hexes — fighting is never forced unless you choose to move there.
